FYI $79.99 at Costco everyday https://www.costco.com/uber---two...82374.html
Several time a year at $75 for $100 Uber gift card.
"All the news stories". I just looked for said news stories. They are just stories about people claiming this on social media. So basically it's people on social media saying it stop trying to legitimize it by calling it news articles. One of the articles said "i added $10 and the same trip went up $2!" That is not proof of anything. Uber fares are constantly changing based on demand/supply of drivers and other factors. It would be easy to prove with a legitimate study or research yet nobody has. Until someone does I'm calling it BS.

Have you all seen the news stories about Uber gift cards?
People are noticing that accounts with Uber Cash preloaded are quoted higher prices for the same trip
It's pretty outrageous, if true

It's not BS. I have numerous personal data points where multiple people at the same place and at the same time requested the same ride, and every single time, the only person with Uber credit was quoted a significantly higher rate - I'm talking a 20%+ delta.

Yes, why don't you call up all the universities in your area and tell them to drop their research projects into unimportant stuff like Cancer and instead do a study on the cost of Uber fares when paying with a gift card.

No one is going to do a legitimate study on the cost of Uber fares.

Ever heard of lawyers and class action lawsuits? This would be highly illegal in most states. You don't think there would be some law firms foaming at the mouth to go after a company the size of uber? Get real. Until it's more than personal anecdotes stop wasting our time with this nonsense in every thread about uber.

"It's not BS. Here let me prove it with my personal anecdotes" 🤣. That was my point. Calling them personal data points instead of anecdote doesn't make it scientific lol. I have plenty of personal anecdotes (data points) showing this is not true. I also frequently look at uber prices the same time as my fiancé who also uses the same gift cards as me in fact we literally split the pack we buy at Costco. Our rates are different all the time. If you're looking for something you're going to find what you want to find. Especially when we're talking about dynamic pricing.

i preloaded a gc, and didn't use the app for two weeks or so, and i got a promo. pretty sure it's just people with a loaded balance is typically using the app so you aren't going to get any deals.

also compared two devices, never seen a difference.

I love it when people bask in the glory of their own ignorance. Well if that were not true we wouldn't be having the stock market yo-yo either. Just sharing an observation not making a broader general statement. 😀
