I used this grinder for many years. It is a great upgrade over a blade, but mine produced fine coffee dust in addition to whatever grind size I was making. A lot of the dust actually collected on the side of the container due to static, so I could scoop it off, but a lot of it made it in. I recently upgraded to the Oxo and wish I had upgraded sooner. Now I can really tell how much that fine coffee was clogging my filters.

I got this last woot deal.. I'm no expert but it works well. I had a little handheld grinder so this was a big improvement. More likely to chase whole bean deals and stock up now.

Very excited for this deal. I've been looking for a reasonably priced burr grinder and couldn't find one. Thanks OP - in for one!

I've had one of these grinders for over 10 years. It works great except some of the grinds will escape out of the bottom. Who cares it's cheap and it works really well.

This grinder seems like it's geared more towards drip coffee, I could never get a fine enough grind for espresso or a good grind for french press. I'm having significantly better results with my Bodum and Capresso grinders. This is way better than those blade style spice grinders, but it's not competing with the mid-range grinders in the $100 price range, but at this price why should it, and at full price I couldn't recommend this to anyone.

I've had this for years. Only ok for drip coffee. Not good for espresso and it does create coffee dust so you'll get lots of mud in your French press

Amazon also has for the same price.... I think this deal only for older model probably to clear off the inventory.

Might be a good idea since the price of ground coffee is .50$ an ounce on a good day. Whole bean looks cheaper.

yes, that's what I meant.. I'm no expert and I'm on a tight budget... I just do drip coffee so it meets my needs. I noticed the "dust" and mess but I can live with it. My old device was a blade system handheld so a big upgrade. And it's a brand name for what it's worth.

Fyi, this has burr plates(flat burrs) vs conical burrs. Pros and cons to each (Google has good breakdown) but both better than plain 'ol blades.

And don't forget the "add a drop or two of water to beans before grinding" trick to cut down on static and dust issues Smilie

That sprinkle of water really does help with the dust, but that also means you can't leave any more whole beans in the hopper than what you plan to grind

I have been using this product on and off for eight years, averaging about twice a month. It grinds very finely, even on the coarse settings (I use it to make coffee in a percolator), and that hasn't been a significant issue for me. However, lately, it has been stopping after just five seconds of running, even when set to grind for 18 cups. I think it might be time to get a new one.

Here are the ratings for the Mr. Coffee Automatic Burr Mill Grinder:
• Medium grind performance: 2/5
• Coarse grind performance: 3/5
• Fine grind performance: 2/5
• Convenience: 4/5
• Ease of cleaning: 4/5
• Noise: 2/5

Overall, it seems to be convenient and easy to clean, but it underperforms in grinding consistency and is relatively noisy.
