Costco has it for $1500 as well but includes a 5 year warranty.
The X93L mini led 85 inch for $1600 around Black Friday last year was slick.
I'd wait for Black Friday and maybe get the 85 inch Bravia 7 for $1600-1800 if it follows the X93L pricing.

If you need one now, there are other 85 inch mini LED TVs available for around this price point: TCL Qm7 ($1500) Hisense U8N ($1700) & Samsung QN90D ($1999). Absolutely worth spending a little extra or waiting for price cuts on Mini LED.
Sony's are worth it.

Tcl mini led didn't compare to a Sony led from my own experience of testing them side by side.

I was disappointed the TCL being mini led didn't destroy the sony.

Black Friday?!

Do you really want to wait that long with the ongoing tariff war going on that could increase your big ticket item upside down?....

We have this TV and it developed vertical blue line after 4 years. We have 3 LG TVs, one bought in 2012, and none has any issues. Names brand doesn't man mean much anymore nowadays. Make sure to get extended warranty.

The Costco version has an upgraded remote with back-lighting.

But it's still X90L, which arguably is an outdated TV

None of the TVs you mentioned in the second paragraph are better than X90L.

You could not have this TV for 4 years since it was only released in 2023. You are obviously talking about an older or a different model.

Facts & rationality appear to indicate otherwise.
They're all better than X90L due to modern mini LED.

Even the cheapest one, the TCL qm7 85 inch at $1k is better 😀

I meant the Hisense U7. Here it is
https://slickdeals.net/share/android_app/fp/1088032

The U7 still holds its own against the X90L at 2/3 the price.

First of all the SD link you posted is to the QD7 which is the 2025 budget TV this year and don't think its even close and missing a lot of features the U7 is

the RTINGs link you posed is for the 85" Hisense U7 which is indeed $1,299 so $200 less and is more of a fair comparison to the X90L but from everything I have read is the motion from the XR processor in the Sony will help with things like sports over the U7

The trade war will most likely be resolved by Q3 or Q4 this year. But if you don't want to take the risk, there's the 85 inch Hisense U7 mini LED for $1000 posted here on SD, in addition to the options mentioned.
There is nothing truthful in your post. You're not running the country so an assumption is not something you should be putting out there.

What should be said is: If you're in the market for an 85" and if this fits your price range, buy it now.
Waiting now there is no certainty that "BF" deal will exist with the current economic battle that we will absolutely lose. (15% of exports from China to US - they can hold off as long as they want to and win. The other 85% exports to other countries, so they don't need the US to stay a float)

A 85" Sony Bravia for under $1,500 !!!
Maybe in 2027 the Bravia 9 will be near this price.

Not an assumption. A calculated prediction based on macro economics, global liquidity, and power projection by the current global hegemon.

Indeed, thanks for the clarification. Still, the Hisense U7 85 for $200 less is the better TV.

To fix the motion of the Hisense/TCL, it is widely recommended to use an Apple TV 4k or similar device, and that makes these TVs even more competitive against Sony. I'll be doing the same with my 83" LG OLED.

the U7 being a "better" TV is debatable I think they are very close but I think there are things about the sony that are better then the U7 and things about the U7 which are better then the sony.

The Sony has better motion, better warranty, better upscaling, much better color calibration out of the box (not that you cannot calibrate the U7 to be closer). Better long term support for updates.

The U7 has Mini LED, maybe a touch more brightness. I also want to point out that if you buy a Apple TV 4K to help the Hisense that's another $125 you need to add to its price which brings the price almost the same.

I agree they are close but adding an Apple TV to the U7 makes the price almost equal and there are better things about the Sony so I would say it isnt a better TV more on an equal TV.
