talk about censoring a thread. Any negative comment on Tesla is deleted.
Well here goes again and if you delete this, it better be because it violated the TOS and not because you have a hard time with anything negative about tesla
This post is about the DEAL and I am not quoting another user who quoted another user...
So I have been saying this for years.
Telsa is overpromise and under deliver.
Poor build quality
Excessive road noise in cabin
Cheap materials
MASSIVE depreciation
Extremely exaggerated range figures.
These are all facts and meant to help people considering a very large purchase and no reason to delete this post.
Do your research before buying a Tesla and do not fall for the hype.
You are pretty much correct that EVs depreciate a lot in the first 2-3 years...part of that is EV technology is improving at a faster rate than ICE vehicles and a part of that is the rebates make it seem the cars are depreciating faster than they really are.
That being said cars like the model 3/Y really don't depreciate that much after the first 3 years. So the depreciation starts off quick but then they don't depreciate as fast as most ICE cars.
A 2018 Tesla Model 3 with 95,000 miles on it will actually have an extremely low ownership cost factoring in depreciation and maintenance. A model 3 bought in the last 2 years will have one of the lowest ownership costs of all vehicles sold in the US. A first said among mainstream vehicles, it was expected to have lowest cost. Even a Tesla Model 3 with 150,000 miles on it will have some value....
One has to be savvy and buy EVs at the right time. Now is a good time to buy the Model 3 Long wheel drive if you qualify for federal and some state tax credits and you plan to keep the car at least 5-6 years.

In the past, in the items that don't matter and can be fixed within 48 hours of purchase like panel alignment and squeaks, Tesla was subpar but that is really changing with the updated versions of Tesla Model 3 and Tesla Model Y. The bad parts of the vehicles in terms of reliability have been improved and the strengths maintained. The Model 3 was already pretty darn good even before its recent update.
And the range is no longer exaggerated at all. In the past it was exaggerated but that is just no longer the case. The only caveat is among Tesla's without the LFP batteries, it is recommended that you only charge up to 80% unless you are on a road trip and need the extra range.
Unless someone needs or really wants a new car, the economical choice to do is to keep driving your existing Tesla Model Y into the ground.
But this one is enough of an improvement that it finally deserves to be the best selling car in the world. Model Y in 2022 and 2023 was the best selling car in the world but it really only earned that based upon SUV/crossover form factor and access to the supercharging network.
Now Tesla has made an EV that is truly great in its own right.

Getting new tires this week after 22K miles (Michelin MXM4 original tires...replacing with Michelin Pilot AS)...between canyons and hills of LA, this car shreds tires...and I don't have a heavy foot.
If I were in the market, a used low mileage model like mine is the SD. Under 25K, you can get a 4K rebate if you qualify too. And you still will have a physical gear shifter!

Please don't tell me about panel alignment being fixed in 48 hours, as I know the standard answer is "it's within spec" and if it is not, you are not tweaking pillar alignment. I know as I've seen the gaps.
And who wants to be bothered with well I can only charge to 80%, but if I have to travel, I better plan ahead and charge to 100%. Imagine going to the gas station and say fill it up...to 80% LOL
Keep touting best selling car, you won't be able to say that for much longer as new sales figures come out.
Good luck!!
This whole post says you've never concidered an EV before. Imangine never even needing to go to a gas station and "fill up" your car as you sleap at home. Being bothered oh please, set it and forget it when "fulling" up so never need to think about it. Pluse controling your charge from your phone with an EV, try doing that with a gas (ICE) car. Go test dive an EV an instant accelatration will sell you. It's the future and you're stuck in the past. BTW, I don't even own a Tesla, so there.
