Hello everyone. I ran some decibel test in my front yard between this generator and the firman 2000i. The pulsar was running on propane with rated wattage of 2000/1600 firman running on gas rated wattage of 2000/1600. Things to consider; I don't have a proper decibel meter. I used my samsung ultra note 20 phone and sound meter app. So take these numbers with a grain of salt.

In my mind I thought the pulsar ran quieter but that wasn't necessarily always the case. I think the firman sound is a bit higher so I just hear it more. Both were running in eco mode.

First test was taken standing directly over the generators. Firman 71db pulsar 72db

Next test was from approximately 12ft away. Firman 60db pulsar 62db

Next test was standing above generator under 500w load. Firman 75db pulsar 76db

Next is 500w load from approximately 12 ft. Firman 66db pulsar 64.

Next is 750w load above generator. Firman 79db pulsar 78db

Last test is 750w load from approximately 12ft away. Firman 68db pulsar 66.5db.

So again. Can't verify the accuracy of this test. But that's what my numbers looked like.

Actually this is PG2200iSCO not PG2200BiS so specs are different than what I saw on generator bible. It's not going to be quiet. Maybe 55 dB with no load on eco and 65 dB with a load. That would be my guess. A quiet dual fuel will cost more, for example Champion 2500 watt (claimed 53dB) that is $472 on Amazon.
Hmm, what is the difference besides one having a CO detector?
IMO, 65 db is not all that loud for a generator, especially a dual fuel for ~$350.
I was looking at getting a conversion kit for my older 2000/1600 watt inverter I have for around $160, but I can get this brand new one for 2x the price, but stay at the same power level I already have (the 2000/1600 would be around 1800/1400 on propane).

I've never messed with a predator but I hear good things about them. For me it's this just based on dual fuel alone.

Not to mention the predator is literally twice as much. If I was going to spend that much more.I would probably go with a dual fuel champion

For that price difference. I would buy this one and have the other as a back up. But I tend to overbuy when it comes to generators and battery ecoflow units. Not sure of what your needs of the generator would be. But if you're using it as an emergency back up, I would be concerned about the low wattage of the one you were thinking about converting to propane. I'm only saying that because with a max of 1400 running watts, You most likely would not be able to power a microwave or small convection oven. With this unit you just barely can...
Well, it will be a backup for my backup. Plus I have several ecoflow units as well (not large ones, just a Delta 2, a River 3 and two River 3 Plus), as well as cobbling together a small (just a single 150Ah battery and 200w worth of solar panels so far) solar setup for a shed. I get where you are coming from.
I have a Westinghouse WGen11500TFc to power my whole house (using natural gas) with an interlock on my panel. I have a Smarter Tools AP2000i 2000 watt inverter generator that I have had for a few years, but is gas only (and would not start last time I needed it due to a gummed up carb that ended up needing replacement). Was looking into getting it converted to propane (and maybe NG), but know it would be pretty low on power if I did. I went ahead and ordered this one to have as my new "backup" unit, and will keep the older 2000 watt unit as a loaner, or maybe just sell it for a few hundred.
I almost ordered 2 of these and a parallel kit, but decided I really don't need that (although I could buy 2, keep one, and sell the other one when a storm comes for a little profit).

Predator is twice the price, 90 day warranty, and gasoline only. No thanks.

💯 that. I can't believe it either. You couldn't have touched anywhere near these prices even six months ago. I was so excited when I saw this pulsar for $360 a few months ago. Anywhere else at that time was darn near five hundred dollars. Now here it is for $299. $249 if in store. That's crazy. EcoFlow's have gotten incredibly cheap as well. I'm just thankful
I can stock up and be ready at a much cheaper price

Sounds like you're on the right track. Those ecoflow battery units and these generators work incredibly well together. When my family was stuck in a three and a half day power outage after tornadoes came through last july, Running ecoflow on the fridge and freezer and then charging them with the generator was invaluable to us. So nice to not have to worry about running a generator all night or while at work. Just let the battery units do their thing...

look at wen or champion on amazon - the HF stuff is fine if you maintain it and the prices are good IF you get them on sale. however, the HF warranty is $$. wen and champion have longer warranty from the start so you can end up with a better price on a unit because of that. at least, thats my understanding when i did some digging a month or so ago, so i have those companies on my list for later in the year when we are ready to get something.
also, HF doesnt offer duel fuel on many models, especially smaller ones.

Does anyone know what kind of run time you would get from a 30lb propane tank?
