It is just cast iron pot. The magic is in a cook
They have products made in China, but their cast iron products (which this deal is for) are made in France.
I have several Staub models and within the past 5 years, even at their lowest prices on scratch and dent or "B" stock once a year sales they aren't $70. But yes, they're significantly less than $300. Sometimes ~$140.The benefit here is the light interior.

Why is anyone buying a $300 cast iron dutch oven? The staub ones are like $70.

Yeah! I got my cast iron Dutch oven at $40. and the lid doubles as a skillet — a bonus.

Yes. Not sure why there are so many people here making misleading statements about this. LC makes some products in various countries, but their cast iron products are still made in their original foundry in France. Various results on Google confirm this, including LC themselves.

Bought one of these directly from Le Creuset. Thyme. It's lighter than a thought, and the oval shape makes it great for searing. Buy it for life. Lifetime warranty. Staub is great too, but like the aesthetics of the Le Creuset. Also get 2 free Cocotte's if you are buying directly from Le Creuset.

Honest question because I know there are tons of ppl who swear by Le Creuset: I have a Tramontina Dutch oven set that I got from Costco years ago that I use all the time and pretty much does everything a Dutch oven should (as far as I know). What makes Le Creuset different/better, and is it worth it?

I also have a Tramontina and for daily use it works just fine.Mine is made in Brazil. I have heard the newer one are made in PRC. My main units are Merten & Storck from Germany.

I stocked up last sale, I went overboard, but these things are fantastic. No chipping, they cook so evenly,, PERFECTO. The French really know cast iron cooking ware.

I have both one from Brazil and one from PRC. Both are identical in performance and quality so far. I can't speak for the lifespan for the one from the PRC as I have not used it long enough to determine if it will last as long as the one I made in Brazil.

Yeah, I noticed the price went up tremendously since the pandemic. A hard pass for me due to the ridiculous price so I bought a Tramontina that performs just as well as my old Le Creuset did. I think a lot of people fall for the "it's expensive so it must be better" trap where they talk themselves into a false narrative when the much cheaper Chinese made enameled cast iron Dutch ovens are just as good.

I cannot fathom how this could be considered a "hot" deal. $300+ for a cast iron Dutch oven ... one Dutch oven.

No ...

This is what I've always used... Lasts about 10 years or so before the enamel starts chipping https://www.walmart.com/ip/Lodge-...lsrc=3p.ds
