These itineraries has been approximately this price for most of the past *two months, I've been looking at them for a while.

Also, when the difference is ~$12 I'd much rather book directly with the airline than through a third party and potentially get the run-around if there's an issue.

Iceland during summer is wonderful. My favorite vacation, and I'd like to do it again.

For August flights. From my search history it looks like I exaggerated—it was about two months ago. Google Flights price history shows about the same price for 8/17-8/30 for the past 56 days.

How may the weather be the last week of May? Thinking of going for the first time.

If you look at seasonal averages for Reykjavik, it looks pretty nice (if a bit cool): average highs around 50 F. And May gets more sunshine than any other month of the year, so that's nice.

I visited in the late June - early July. Daytime highs were between 50 and 60 everyday. Some sun, some clouds, some windy periods (particularly outside of towns), and a little bit of rain over the entire week. The weather didn't affect our activities at all.

That said, Iceland has a reputation for having very unpredictable & volatile weather. I didn't experience that in June-July... but I visited a second time, in February, and I definitely experienced it then. Extreme winds, heavy snow that would blow through in 15 minutes, etc.

But hopefully it's less of a problem in May than it is during the winter. Smilie I would happily go in May, if I had the opportunity!
