After a quick look, the take 3 AA batteries. I'd pass on ANY of these that use AA batteries and go with the 18650 rechargeable battery. I got the AA ones before and I'll never do that again.

I've tried to retro fit the 18650, but damaged the switch on the back. It's just not worth it, IMO.

I agree 100% no 18650 not worth it anymore. Now if we could just find a deal with decent 18560 lights for $10 or less each I could put some of these spare salvaged 18650 batteries to use…

Yea the chore of charging a weak power source is just not worth it, and it doesn't save any money once you factor in the cost of the batteries vs ones that already come with a recharageable usb.
