Decent deal considering this only came out a few months ago, however it is worth noting that 8BitDo stuff goes on steep discount fairly regularly, and the Ultimate 1 controller has been on sale for like 15 bucks for the wired version, and like 25 for the wireless one. Their 100 dollar keyboard was on sale for only 50 dollars less than a year after its release. So if you're not in a rush for a controller this will certainly get much cheaper some time within the next year or so.

I have this controller but I've been unable to get the paddles to work. I've used the software to update the buttons but they never work.

I don't think they work unless you assign them to another controller button using the ultimate software.

edit: also these controllers usually have multiple profiles so cycle through them to see if they're assigned to an action on one of them.

Sigh, but we might not be seeing those steep discounts like before with tariffs in place...

The version they have similar to this that works for the switch is more expensive. Usually $70.

However, it is also on sale for $50 right now. I just bought one and am optimistic it will also work for switch 2.

8bitdo is an absolute garbage company that doesn't stand behind their incredibly shilled products.

Never in my life have I ever seen so many youtubers paid to shill a product, ever. Be warned. The product definitely feels decent quality but disconnects constantly, bluetooth lag, etc.

The company will string you along for 1 YEAR and make you pay for to and return shipping. They employ all sorts of strategies of deception and threats to people writing negative reviews.

Do not support this company at any price. Please!

That's the ultimate 1 not the ultimate 2. Not much of a difference though AFAIK

I just got this and while I like it note this is NOT switch compatible.

Also - while others have pointed out steep discounts in the past with tariffs coming who knows what will happen - so in short if you've been thinking of getting this I'd take the jump like me and get it before shortages and price increases happen.

Not my experience at all and this is going back many generations of their products.

Rolled the dice to try it out. Only reasons I'm getting it is to avoid stick drift and see how it fits my hand. I'm one of those people that miss the old Xbox Duke. Hopefully MS/Sony put Hall sensors and triggers in their next console's controllers.

Most notable are TMR joysticks, 1000Hz polling rate and other small changes.
Here's a review that goes over the changes and features: https://youtu.be/1WBWhhxbj4A?si=lgfB5hpTga0hgKsI

My experience so far with the Ultimate 2 has been great.
It feels good, very customizable and the dock is really awesome, in so many ways.
Never going back to the Xbox controllers.
