I didn't know people actually bought these, I thought they were just to increase the "tool" count in combo kits.

Yeah, I would never PAY for one of these stupid things. Feels like a toy, isn't very useful for automotive work since its a semi-spotlight without much flood.
THe DCL050, on the other hand, is beefy and sturdy as hell, and FLOODS extremely well (no hot spots), and I have one, contemplating buying a 2nd. I'd say skip this dinky light and get the flood version which goes on sale for $35-40ish recently

I have had this for 5 years.

It's great for power failures, because it never gets hot, and never drains the battery. I've used it for 5 days in a row, and the battery still has 3 bars.

It's good for brake jobs, because it's not too bright and it does not tip over as you kick it along.

Super basic: no dimming modes, no flashing modes, no red-light night vision mode; just On or Off.

I used to be a hater of this item - at the original OEM asking price it was truly absurd. But I'm deep in the DeWalt ecosystem, have 5 of their lights, and use this one way more than I expected:
  1. I find the rubber grip design very comfortable, and this is lightweight and "grabbable".
  2. If you are in the DeWalt ecosystem, this goes well with any compact kit batteries you already have.
  3. If you have DeWalt accessories like a belt hook, this works with those.
  4. You don't need 2000 lumens to wash out whatever your working on or looking at. At some point up close less is more.
  5. This lasts basically forever on a fresh battery.
  6. In my experience it's been sturdy and survived drops, etc.
I do agree the DCL050 is better as a work light. This is better as a portable flashlight. I have both, and use both for different tasks.
This price is around what I think this is objectively worth. I'd consider this if you're in the DeWalt ecosystem, have a few tools/batteries already, but haven't ended up with a light.

The other thread says to "Use code FIVEOFFDEWALT at checkout for an extra $5 off
Bringing this price down even more.

Without Amazon Prime it is $6 bucks shipping, plus tax, plus the item, and then if you do the 5 bucks off, it's still at $30 bucks...meh. Decided against it, $30 bucks for a flash light that has no battery or charger...I'm out.

This came with a set I purchased. I never thought I would use it but it is a great light when working around the garage and on projects. As mentioned above, it's also great for power outages and lasted a long time without losing battery. I even took it camping once to help light up the tent.
