I took some of these adapters and plugged them into the charging port of my phone and it lit right up. To make it a secure connection, I put a piece of heat shrink on the adapter and LED stick to keep them connected as a solid piece. I gave one to my wife and keep one in my car. I've also made a couple using lightning to USB adapters for coworkers with iPhones and they worked a treat. The LED sticks are surprisingly bright and works as a flashlight OR a vastly superior way to get better pictures and video with your phone in low light situations.
Disclaimer: didn't get these for your phone if you use have a phone case. you want to find the adapters that tapers down to the USB C plug or has the USB C plug stick out a little further specifically to accommodate devices with cases.
