Well no my lawn mower is fine and I have multiple chargers/trickle chargers. I guess my point was I have a "fake battery" that I was going to put in my mower then put this on it. It supposedly can start a dead battery. If it can't even turn over a mower then it's not starting a car. I don't have a car with a "starter" anymore to try as I have an EV and a hybrid and the hybrid only starts the motor with the electric motors inside the transmission. I like having one of these though when we go camping as I sometimes use the hybrid to charge a power station battery and I've always feared draining the 12v to much. It's never happened but there is always a chance.
Assuming this has boost mode, and your mower runs fine from a cold start jump with a completely dead battery, this could work for your use case.

I guess I'm still going to try it because it literally says at the top of the page. "START COMPLETELY DEAD BATTERIES".. The manual makes no mention of a boost mode. The battery bank does not show a boost mode on it and neither does the dongle with the clips have any sort of button to activate it.

Edit..

Oh yeah and also inside the box there is a card saying if you don't send them an email you basically don't have a warranty. I also realize now that they don't even have this model on their site and it doesn't appear to be listed on amazon so I'm starting to think this might either be really old stock or something else...

Says it would boost a dead battery so ordering and will try it on a riding lawn mower.
I got mine and it definitely doesn't have a boost button FWIW.

Will this start a battery that has been completely dead and has no power to even illuminate the dashboard lights? The car was sitting for months and not used.
Generally speaking if a battery has been sitting unused for that long you want to use a "battery charger" instead of a "battery jump starter". You'd hook up the charger for several hours and then see if if that does the trick. The battery, however, could be completely dead.

Another option is to remove the battery and take it to an Auto Zone type store. It may be store by store basis, but usually they will charge your battery overnight for free.

I bought this a few months ago and it has worked great. The air pump works as expected. I use it a lot to jump my riding mower and also cars. My cars are 4 cylinder vehicles. Yes, if the car battery is flat, it will jump it with no problem. I think I've only charged it 1x since I bought it. Has exceeded my expectations. At this price, it's a good buy. I got it for $48 last December.

I understand your use case now, if nothing else I suppose it's a good test case to see if this cheap unit actually works as advertised, and you can do it over and over.

Sorry for quoting all 3 of you but I got this and tried it today. It does indeed start a lawn tractor at least with literally no battery hooked up. After you plug in the clips to the battery it will flash red and green like it won't work but once you turn the key it clicks and is green and will crank the engine(and started it). If you don't start it(I purposely did this to) it will turn red and I had to unplug/replug it in. It then allowed a crank again without any battery. It also turned the engine very well.

Interesting. Thanks for the share. My understanding it boost mode isn't about having enough power but rather bypassing the safety checks (positive/negative hooked up correctly, not shorted, etc.) before it allows power to flow. If what you are saying is accurate it almost sounds like the first few second it's on/attached it bypasses all safety checks, which is strange.

When a battery is completely dead it cannot confirm the hookup is correct, hence why most hand a boost bypass button. It's designed like that to be very deliberate and intentional when used. And most come with warnings in the manual about ensuring you have hooked up correctly before using this feature.
