Pros: long battery life, decent sound cancelation. The sound cancellation does not come close to AirPods. Battery is very long.

Cons: The mic on these is not great. I think it's too far from your mouth to be effective. Landfill trash once the battery degrades. Bluetooth can be slow and it's tricky to switch between devices. There are no useful buttons on the headset— it's all taps and feeling around. Feels fragile.

Overall, for noise cancellation, I'd probably go with AirPods instead of these if I'm in the iOS ecosystem. The cups on these simply don't block enough physical sound.

What would you recommend instead. I'm struggling to find some good ANC around this price.

That's a great list, but I think my general impression is that closed-back headphones are simply not very effective at isolating you out from sounds. You need to seal the ear drum - i.e. Apple AirPods or the Sony WF-1000XM5. If you combine an IEM with 3M or other industrial brand Hearing Protection you have literally a pro-tier $2,000-value noise cancelling system. That's my take, but it might not be a popular one. It depends on if you are isolating at home, out and about, and what form factor is useful for you to carry around, i.e. are you commuting.

I recently purchased these from another store. For the short time I have them, the sound quality is great, the noise cancelation is excellent. I tried it in a bathroom with a loud bathroom fan and almost eliminated the noise. With music playing, you may not hear it at all. I have to take off my headphones to confirm if the bathroom fan was still running. These also has an auxiliary port, so I can plug these into my portable CD player and listen to music.

I have A/B tested this model to the more expensive QC Ultra model and can say they both offer AMAZING noise cancellation and transparency modes which Bose calls Quiet and Aware. The only reason I chose the QC Ultra over these is I got a better deal on those and the build quality seems better. I actually preferred the sound on this model since it has more bass quality and quantity. It felt like the bass was hitting harder but you can edit bass, mid and treble with the EQ on the Bose app. I think $220 is well worth it for these headphones especially with Costco return policy.

The music/sound quality and mic on these are not even $100 quality. However the ANC is fantastic. Bought it last month from Costco solely for airplane travel.

A great comparison review of the Bose models that really helped me: https://recordingnow.com/blog/bos...ort-ultra/

These have a cheap feeling built to them tbh. Comfort for me at least is not the best. They don't get as loud as I would like them to. I personally prefer the xm5 for sound and comfort, especially the ANC (comfortable is subjective that you don't have a bigger head since the band can get irritating. Also keep in mind the xm5 has a known hinge issue)

I agree with these feeling cheap. The mostly plastic build, creaking and lightweight combines to make them feel that way. I opted for the QC Ultras which to me feel more robust and sturdy. I just wish they had as strong of bass as the QC but I found the QC had strong bass and too strong of treble so it's a trade off.

They are great sounding headphones and best at noise cancelling. But the battery only lasts for about 5 years and you can't replace it without opening it up and it soldiered.

I grabbed this and the Bowers and Wilkens PX7 S2. Ended up keeping the Bowers. The Bose does have better ANC and is more comfortable for longer wear. However, it's like a plastic toy and did not sound as good as the Bowers, I like the crisp clean sound of the Bowers while these sounded muddier. Comes down to what you need/want out of these, if it's ANC, go with the Bose, if it's sound and build quality, Bowers is the better/cheaper buy.
