base clock is just the minimum guaranteed clock speed. practically speaking, it's a fairly meaningless spec. as with any cpu (and computers in general), look at the real world performance benchmarks to gauge relative performance and what you need.

0.9ghz is the lowest base clock for the E cores; they normally clock much faster.
And P cores top at around 5ghz, so, all in all, a fairly capable budget processor.

These are Canadian market laptops and come with a combo English/French keyboard.
They work fine and the extra keyboard functionality can be ignored for standard US English users.

That's not the problem but that it's a HP 17.3" laptop. Their budget laptops are infamous for flimsy construction and terrible hinges.

Solid deal and a great processor for the price. Use a HP laptop with the same CPU and it's snappy, providing very respectful battery life.

300nits would probably make it unusable outdoors. Even in shade you need about 400nits.

That doesn't make sense.
Any English keyboard is suitable.

I bought one of these on ebay for my father. He breaks everything, but this laptop has held up since July 2022. He uses it all day long 3-4 days per week, 12 hours per day, depending on his work schedule. He's constantly tossing it around when he gets up (never on a desk, always on his lap)

Picked this up yesterday.

Keyboard is not backlit
Speakers are about the worst I've ever heard.

Outside of that it's decent for $350 for what it is
