I received one of these as a gift several years ago and I almost never use it, as it is really just too small to be practical. If I did more camping then maybe, but even then I probably wouldn't take this because of the weight. Hatchets just have such a limited number of situations where they are the right tool. My opinion is that, If you want an estwing axe, get the campers axe instead. If you want something for fireside, get the fireside friend. all of this, of course, is YMMV.
I have a wood furnace and do frequent tree work along farm fence lines, just to share my use cases.

Came here to see if it was a good hatchet. Was hoping it wasn't so I wouldn't consider buying it laugh out loud Last time I bought a hatchet to cut some small fire logs into smaller fire logs it dented and rolled starting with the first chop so definitely not going cheap again.

Since there isn't a lot of "real world" experience for this I figured I would offer some. I chopped down a tree with one of these in my backyard when I was a kid (we lived next to the woods and had many acres) and it's a phenomenal hatchet. Apparently they are making them exactly the same way because this looks just like the one my dad had. You can just keep re-sharpening it and hacking away, very high quality hatchet.

I always wanted an Estwing leather-handled hammer just because I like the look. Now that I own one, I'm over it. You're way better off with a rubberized handle. The leather looks cool, but it's just too slippery. I tried sanding the handle as well as applying different compounds to make it more grippy. Now it just sits on my tool bench looking cool.

I'll be keeping one in the car.
The weight on these are very heavy. Hard to get a good swing with it vs an attacker. 1 swing and that's it. A good quality solid non folding knife is much better

I have been using one for camping for many years now and it stays in the fire bag. Keep it super sharp and its great for splitting wood for kindling making feather sticks etc. I have occasionally abused it for hammering and removing stakes. I still have to carry the full size axe for splitting firewood on some occasions.

When looking for small hatchets for my vehicle emergency kit, I looked at this, but ended up getting a Fiskars X7. I felt like I had more control over the X7 with its reduced weight, and the grip was much...grippier. It has performed well for light/intermittent use.

+1 to the Fireside Friend. I cannot imagine a non home defense use for this hatchet, but the FF is a master of kindling. Because it's a maul, not a hatchet.
