The Purclean series doesn't have optical brighteners, which is great, but sadly this is scented.

Beware it smells like rotten melons! The old scent when it launched was perfect, subtle but kinda musky and faintly cologne like, the new scent smells like overripe honeydew melon. Blach.

Companies love to do this. No idea in hell why. Dawn did the same thing with their dish soap and we can't use it anymore the smell is terrible.

Great to give it a try! Have been using tide free for over a year, but my stinky man smell is ever present in my shirts. I'm excited to see if this works to keep them smelling nice without unnesacary addatives

Try vinegar in the final rinse.

If you have a front-loader, add it to the detergent drawer's fabric softener dispenser/compartment. I guess for a top-loader, you could just open the top during the final rinse cycle and add the vinegar in.

Historically, I've used vinegar to pre-soak smelly things in a bucket before washing. I recently moved to an apartment with a top-loader that has an auto-soak feature, so now I just add vinegar to the main tub with the detergent before soaking. However, I don't know if this is the best way to do it.

It's worth noting that using too much vinegar too frequently can damage the rubber seals or hoses of some machines and may eventually lead to leaks.

Hanging things to dry outside in the sun is also a very effective way to remove odours.
