I had one of these and didn't have much success. Two out of four species sprouted. One type of pine seemed to fail due to damping out, despite my attempts to carefully water. The flame trees did the best, but the transplanting wasn't successful when they outgrew the little pot. I generally have a pretty green thumb, keeping 140 species of plants, but I think bonsai are a different kind of growing I'm not suited for

I've been avid in the bonsai hobby for years and let me just chime in that these kits are total scams and not a good way to get into the hobby. Can you grow trees for bonsai from seed? Sure, but it is a very long road and this isn't how you would want to do it (you'd likely want to grow in the ground to thicken the trunk with successive trunk chops for years before digging it up to develop further). A much better way to get into this hobby if you are interested is starting with nursery material that you can work on to train as a bonsai or collected material from somewhere you can legally dig up trees. Also, you'll cut a huge amount of the learning curve out if you seek out a local bonsai club or society. They can give you access to cheap or free material that is more likely to succeed where you live and give great advice. These kits are a scam, often have dead seeds that won't germinate and may not be suitable for your climate anyway. I don't care how cheap they are, if your goal is to get into bonsai don't start with these types of kits.
