I think there's value in purchasing from Costco with their return policy. Acer also has a reputation to maintain. I'd say this is a good deal. You'll find cheaper deals, but you're also buying some peace of mind to be able to resolve issues.

I have several portable monitors and I'd prefer they have the stand like this one does.

But what I'd really recommend is looking at your needs. If you're not intending to move the monitor (e.g., take it with you), you'll likely be more satisfied with a non-portable monitor that will be larger at a comparable price. 15.6" is the size of a laptop screen. You'll have less eye strain with a physically larger screen.

The most routine use for one of my portable monitors is as a video screen for passengers in my vehicle. Cell phone hotspot + FireTV stick + Portable monitor = entertainment that can be powered via USB. This Acer screen has an HDMI input which means it could do the same. It also has a 3.5mm jack for headphones.

Edit: trying to improve readability
This is a rebrand for Acer.

If you look on Amazon, there are no-name brands selling models with identical specs in the $50 range. Some even have better specs.

All of the competing products have too low metrics and will get pulled by mods.

Just search "portable monitor". They're all based on only a handful of displays, so the only differences are price and warranty.

I feel like the vast majority in this space have mini-HDMI, other than the Raspberry Pi monitor (ironically). Anyone know of any other, cheaper models with a full-sized HDMI?

wish Costco would sell 13 or 14" portable monitors. i have the 13" macbook air and it's just not convenient to have a 15.6" "portable" monitor that's bigger than my actual laptop since it requires a bigger bag/case which then defeats the portability of the 13" mb air

I have been looking for a portable monitor and when I saw this, I almost bought it. Months later, it went on sale and I almost bought it again…
Alas, the contrast is really, really low. The brightness is also very dim. I saw it a few times in person and just couldn't buy this gray mess.

I thought Costco didn't allow electronics returns beyond 90 days? Or is that for more expensive things like gaming pcs, laptops, or TV?

These are on sale refurbished everywhere for $59. And you can find new on sale at Walmart stores for $69 all the time. I would stay away from this monitor. I got a really nice MSI one for $100 on Amazon and I am happy with that.

You could buy adapters. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08949F32T I think a regular size HDMI jack would be too thick for the monitor. Also these usually come with a normal size to mini hdmi cable.

I was able to return a monitor after 11 months due to a flickering issue, so you should still be able to return this even if it's past the 90-day mark.

FHD is way too low if using for mobile work. You want to maximize your screen real estate

What's FHD
FHD = Full High Definition, 1920x1080 (1920 columns by 1080 rows/lines)
As opposed to HD which is high definition (with respect to how standard definition was 480 lines). HD is 1280x720.
4k is FHD times 2 in both dimensions, so 3840 by 2160

I just purchased a uperfect 2k 144hz 16in monitor for $142 after tax. It is amazing. When choosing resolutions, it actually gives me a 4k option.

I got uperfect 4k for 120 on eBay but it's 60hz as most of the 4k line below $200

Search for ASIN B0B6385W9V - it's currently on lightning deal for $55.99. Please note I don't have first person experience with this monitor, it was just one of the first ones I found with a full size HDMI port, so do your due diligence. There are probably other monitors with full size HDMI, but I don't have the time/patience to go through all the listings right now.
