I would like to know the difference between the u shaped vs regular
This box shaped unit:
https://www.energystar.
U-Shape:
https://www.energystar.
The U features "MSHIELD AIR IONIZER TECHNOLOGY- This unit contains MShield Air Ionizer Technology which can help to eliminate odors, smoke, and gases in the air."
For vertical sliding windows, it allows a larger view and possible window opening.
For horizontal sliding windows, a conventional window AC box may be easier to install.
Possible mold issues on the fan have been reported on the U (may also be present on this unit, but it's likely an issue for all window ACs). One user on the U shaped thread #65 proposes this solution (also likely applicable to all window ACs):

So does this give you 5 years of warranty with that purchase?
