Too bad these 300 watt units don't have the <10 ms response time for UPS usage. Yeah <20 ms might work but I'm not taking the chance.

None of them.

If you need it to be that precise, that's faster than most UPSes.

And life-critical devices are actually double active duty. There's zero switching delay because they're always using battery power, which is why they don't last as long or use older battery tech like lead acid.

What you're describing is double conversion

No?

It's AC-DC with a DC step down and some type of rectifier for odd devices.

The River3 PLUS (note the PLUS) has 10ms

the Delta3 series (three not two) has 10ms

basically the very newest units

The claimed 20ms on this River3 (non-plus) is actually better than even the Delta2 series

it has to do with the design age and probably capacitors inside

I have several power supplies for my PC and I've noticed the much beefier units meant for 1000watts with multiple GPU have super-capacitors that can deal with long dropouts like 20ms and maybe even 30ms

but even a quality smaller PSU cannot handle the 20ms

a laptop with battery can probably handle it fine because it's really just charging the battery when plugged in

$115 is very tempting

but it doesn't have the USB power-loss notification/app like the PLUS does
aka power manager
https://manuals.ecoflow.com/eu/pr...ce=desktop

have to look up the solar charge rate on the non-plus

oh this is interesting
there are multiple claims on the River3 so must be different MPPT

"EcoFlow RIVER 3/RIVER 3 (230)/RIVER 3 (10 ms UPS)_User Manual
2025-04-24"

https://manuals.ecoflow.com/produ...lang=en_US

"This user manual is applicable to the following products: RIVER 3, RIVER 3 (230), RIVER 3 (10 ms UPS).
The terms "RIVER 3", "RIVER 3 (230)" and "RIVER 3 (10 ms UPS)" in this manual shall refer to EcoFlow RIVER series product."

that's not the plus and they claim 10ms

so there might be an older River3 20ms and a newer River3 10ms

RIVER 3 / RIVER 3 (230) / RIVER 3 (10 ms UPS)

see how it's broken down, interesting

AC Output (Bypass Mode) US/JP/BR:
100-120V~50/60Hz, 300W total

USB-A Output 5V⎓2.4A, 12W Max per port, 24W total

USB-C Output PD3.0, QC3.0
5/9/12/15V⎓3A Max, 20V⎓5A Max, 100W Max

DC Output 12.6V⎓10A, 126W Max

Total Output Power 550W

Solar Input 11-30V⎓8A, 110W Max

Car Input 12/24V⎓8A, 100W Max

Ah, see that, the PLUShas 220watt input from solar and up to 55volts

the non-plus River3 has only 110watt input with max 24-30volts

so that's "the catch" if you consider that

non-plus 20ms vs 10ms switch

non-plus 110watt 24-30volt vs 220watt 55volt input

Depends on what you want the UPS functionality for, I suppose. I have this unit and 20ms works perfectly fine for the modem and wireless router.

My Plex server is a laptop, anyway, so 10ms vs 20ms is irrelevant.

You sorta could, depending on your power requirements. You'd have to put in an external power brick to the solar port. As long as the load stays below the solar port max watts, the unit will stay charged up. I'm not sure what this does to longevity, but in theory works fine (though the fans will be working much harder)

Does it come with the correct power cord that actually allows the 1hr charge? These power stations are always so sneaky with cables not being included to do half of what they say.

Yeah it comes with the AC cord.

Mine charges at 300w max with that cord.

I bought this a bit over a week ago for $139 with 45W Solar panel. Battery unit lasted less than a week. After charging it from 20 to 45% with solar, the battery threw an overload error and now no longer charges. Battery was in the shade the entire time. Only thing I was doing was charging it while also recharging my DJI batteries via the 100W USB port (I was only pulling 20W according to display) and I didn't do this until around the 42% SOC mark.
Am exchanging it as I really want to give this a chance (great for flying drones out doors), but so far its not looking good.
