USB-C supports data transfer speeds ranging from 480 Mbps (USB 2.0) to 20 Gbps (USB 3.2 Gen 2x2). For Ethernet, USB-C can handle speeds from 10 Mbps to 100 Gbps. Additionally, USB-C can support faster transfer rates like 40 Gbps (USB4) and 80 Gbps (Thunderbolt 4).

240W chargers exist as engineering samples from charger manufacturers such as Chicony and others, but they are not sold to consumers yet, for one very simple reason:

There are no sinks that would take advantage of the 240W level yet. It's a little bit of a chicken and egg.

No consumer focused USB charger company will release a high end charger that will not benefit the user immediately. The charger will be larger, bulkier, and more expensive than it needs to be.

140W chargers are getting more and more common because Apple's MacBooks switched to EPR a couple years ago, but as of this comment, there are no commercially available 180W or 240W sinks.

Framework is likely going to be the first laptop to support both 180W and 240W levels, and Framework themselves did a blog post about the charger they will actually bundle with the laptop, the 180W one. https://frame.work/blog/framework-laptop-16-deep-dive---180w-power-adapter](https://frame.work/blog/framework-laptop-16-deep-dive---180w-power-adapter[/url]

The Framework 16 will also support 240W, but it sounds like Framework won't (at least initially) sell a 240W charger.

I don't see type C chargers being fazed out anytime soon considering it fixed all the problems and limitations micro USB, mini USB and Thunderbolt connectors had.

Something like that? Cables will still be overkill at 240w but 140w seems like some extremely fast charging. Cables will also be future proof when 240w charging is a thing

Just weird because 240w isn't even a new thing. Came out like 3 years ago and still nothing much made for it.. Or anything really

Don't know if future proofing cables is even smart either. Lol some kind of new standard will come about and then we'd probably want that cable instead while making these "unsafe" just through a technicality.

Exactly why i don't want to hoard cables. I still have new in plastic micro and mini usb cables from one popular brand that i no longer see here, can't recall the name. I have no use for them. Hoarded plenty free micro and mini cables.

Interesting reviews to say the least! Best to test these ASAP after purchase. Many say they are not fast charge but some do???? Luck of the draw!

Bought a set of these also!

Posting out of date AI generated replies like this is cringe. And none of the sinks in my house need power, let alone 240w USB c power. They all run on hydro power.

You might want to let your AI know the framework 16 has been out now for over a year and happily supports 240w USB c.
