Asics wide 2E = Standard D of other American brands.

No wides available
My last pair of nimbus fell apart in under four months. Outsole (bottom tread) was fine, but the insides tore up. Emailed Asics about the warranty and they said my shoes were not tied tightly enough. Emailed them back and said I have been running for decades and the shoes were tied tightly. They emailed back and said the insides ripped because the shoes were tied too right. YMMV
You should probably see a doctor for that, but be glad it's amber/yellow and not blood red

I have wide feet and Asics are the only brand of running shoe that consistently fits me well across their whole line of products. Never bought their 2Es.

I have a pair of Gel Nimbus 25s and they are by far the most comfortable running shoes I've ever worn.

I really think it's more about finding what fits your specific foot.
