It's separate and can be mounted anywhere, but the intent is to hold your other devices in those black clips. It's been this price a few times in the past few months.

I am sure I could find a different use for the pegboard. For the price, this is a very good mount. Keep in mind it doesn't extend the TV very far from the wall, but allows some articulation, which is what I wanted - watch it from a side kitchen island.
