You write this in almost every filament thread as if every PLA is the same. Also, filament from most retailers come from China and pricing will be going up. Elegoo already announced the increase is coming and Polymaker has already raised their pricing.
You shouldn't put those spools directly in your AMS. Elegoo direct has an adapter you can print that goes around the edges of the spool. There are also many variants available on makerworld which I prefer. They are quick prints and snap right on.

What is a good price would not change from thread to thread. I'm simply letting people know what a good price is.

99.999% of PLA _is_ the same. Call it high speed, plus, etc.... that is all marketing. There are _tons_ of people testing filaments and they all point to no real difference.

I would certainly agree... stock up now as who knows what will happen with the prices. Even PLA at $10 or $11 is not a huge difference.

alright for all the experts here, which 3d printer should I start with and where are the best online resources to learn?
You can't get any more plug-n-play than a Bambu printer. No tuning, no testing, just print. I've had an Ender3 and Sovol SV06. They were good printers to learn how 3d printing works but if you just want to print, get a Bambu. i've printed over 1k hours on my p1s and can recall just about every failure (very low), and it was usually a dirty build plate.

I had zero experience about 5 months ago, and am slowly learning. I purchased a Bambu P1S, which has been nearly flawless except for a failed PETG print that wouldn't stick to the bed. I design in TinkerCad, which is very basic and what elementary students learn for 3D design. I will be trying to learn Fusion360 next. There are many terms you'll have to look up, but if you want easy, stick with PLA filament, but I don't know enough to recommend a printer, especially since it's based on budget. I love my Bambu as a newbie though. I also considered a Prusa before buying, but it was more expensive.

99% of PLA is the same is simply not true. To say pla+ is the same as standard is also not true (at least for the better brands) ... For example, while the Elegoo pla is very good, I personally would spend the extra $10-$15 extra for the PLA plus. I have close to 200 rolls of filament (mostly PLA) from various brands and it's pretty easy to identify which filament prints better than others. There's a good few I wouldn't touch again regardless of price.

Fine. Tell me how Elegoo PLA plus is different then a certain other brand, without being subjective.

Comparison of pla vs pla+ using polymaker showing a distinct difference
https://www.cnckitchen.com/blog/t...-polymaker

While this doesn't show difference between brands, it does show different physical behavior between the same brand and their formulations.

I think there is definitely a difference in formulations when it comes to something like PLA Plus/Pro because manufacturers might have a different "recipe" for the copolymers, elastomers, other plastics, etc they add to make PLA Plus/Pro a little more flexible, tougher, and have better layer adhesion. All that to say, I have had good experience after dozens of spools of the Elegoo PLA+ in my Creality K1C, so might have to stock up again.

You can invest dozens of hours of learning and adjusting and messing around trying to get your prints right or just buy a bambu p1p and be done with it.

PLA Plus in general is stronger than other PLA. All the Elegoo PLA prints great but PLA+ and the Pro are stronger than the standard PLA & Rapid PLA. It's not a huge difference but for functional parts PLA+ and Pro are probably your best bets. I prefer the Plus vs the Pro as it's a little better with temp resistance. I use Rapid PLA+ a lot as well for certain applications but it has a bit of a sheen that others don't have which may or may not be what someone is looking for.

As far as other brands, the colors and cleanliness of the prints are better than most outside of Polymaker. I'm not sure if this is the right word but many of the colors on some of the other brands seem "diluted" or a bit washed. I do have plenty of Polymaker but use it sparingly as it's just too expensive and if it is better than Elegoo, it's not by much to warrant me spending more on it. Polymaker was expensive before and now it's even worse after they raised pricing on everything by about 10%.

I would recommend trying a roll of the Elegoo PLA+ and I'd venture a guess that you will be quite happy vs some of the other brands.

I'm with you on this one. They are different, but are they that much different? until tariffs messed up the market prices,10 a spool is a good price for me when buying 10. I usually just get kingroon, they print fine and don't come on a cardboard spool... My P1S doesn't seem to care what no name PLA I use. PETG... well, sometimes I need my dryer.

Does Elegoo make Polymaker products? Go back and read my question which was about your Elegoo comment. As I said, it's 99% marketing. Some (very few) companies actually make better PLA. It is only _slightly_ better and they usually charge almost twice as much. I'm not talking about those filaments at all.

You stated all PLA is the same regardless of name. I was demonstrating that is not true in testing. I just chose a trusted source of information to show different PLA products perform differently.

You could check out https://youtu.be/cp2ezU9t714&t=448 where a comparison of different PLA products from Elegoo were tested. There are always lots of variables to consider, including filament storage and drying before printing.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aIyaDD8onIE

came from this thread where everyone seems to hate bambu

Please feel free to go back and read the posts. I did not claim "all" PLA was the same. You stated Elegoo PLA was not the same and I asked for info to show that Elegoo was not the same.

The link you provided tests many difference. Almost all show that PLA+ is the same and in one case, worse then PLA. The tests also show that PLA+ is different in one regard... it behaves more like PETG in that it does not bend and then breaks, it simply breaks at a higher force without bending.

If you want to spend twice as much as certain PLA+ brands, feel free to do so. I'd simply recommend saving money and printing with PETG.
