I'll be the first to admit that I buy way too much pre-packaged and processed food that contain an abundance of sodium and probably a bunch of other unhealthy ingredients, but I am a slave to the convenience and, frankly, I think they taste great. However, the two varieties of Ben's Street Food that I bought last time through a Slickdeals post were the least flavorful pre-packaged meals I have ever purchased.
Chili's Restaurant used to sell chili in a cup or bowl that was astonishingly salty, to the point where I called them after I got home (take out order) to complain that they made it wrong. The next time I ordered it, it was the same overbearing level of saltiness. But that gave me the bright idea to take the Chili's chili and mix it with the Ben's Street Food to make it more palatable. It was a genius idea because it made them both semi edible, but just barely, which says a lot given the amount of junk food that I have shoveled down without a bit of complaint over the years. If you value flavor, you should steer clear of Ben's Street Food.

How do these compare to Campbell's Chunky gumbo? I like the flavor of the soup a lot although the rice is a bit undercooked. These come in a microwaveable package which is a lot convenient the a can.

UPDATE: Never mind, it's not for me. Many reviewers say that it's very hot and I can't tolerate hot foods.

That's for all the Ben's varieties. If you filter in only the Gumbo, the reviews seem to be a bit over 4 stars.

who the eff is Ben?
Used to be Uncle Ben, a kindly black butler/waiter with gray hair. Along with Aunt Jemima, they were meant to evoke an idealized Reconstruction South. In addition, "Uncle" was often an euphemism for older slaves. Needless to say, the racist myth rubbed a lot of people the wrong way so both icons disappeared and brands were renamed.
