A lot of bad reviews on the brushless model on the blade holder snapping. It's smaller and cheaply made compared to the non brushless model

Note that this bundle includes the updated pblrs02 model, which does not appear purchasable individually on HD's website yet. I can't find anything online as to whether they've fixed or improved the trouble area found in the pblrs01 model that mr peppers mentions.

Weren't these like $99 a few years back? I think the deal was a free tool when we bought a 2 battery pack.

I just did a Grok deep search on the blade holder snapping issue and it discovered that the blade retention mechanism has been redesigned in the PBLRS02 model. It's possible they addressed the issue.

"Conclusion and Recommendations
Based on the available information, it seems likely that the snapping problem has been fixed in the new Ryobi reciprocating saw model (PBLRS02B), given the redesigned blade release mechanism and Ryobi's focus on improving durability in their 2025 Gen 2 lineup. However, as of May 2025, specific user reviews confirming this fix are limited, introducing some uncertainty. Users concerned about the snapping issue should monitor recent reviews on platforms like Home Depot or Ryobi Tools for firsthand feedback, especially from those who have used the PBLRS02B extensively."

If I need the saw tomorrow but want the battery deal, can I buy both in store and have the online deal shipped to me, then return the saw from online purchase as if I had bought it in store?

$491 retail is total BS. $200 isn't even a fair price for this. I have this, and it works fine, and worth maybe $100 with battery and charger. If you need the two extra batteries, then maybe worth an extra $50 on top of that.
