Shoot me a link for a $90 4TB external SSD when ya get a chance
You just have weed out the moronic reviews The best are the 1 star reviews because the box arrived damaged. I mean really? People are such idiots. I have the 5TB of this I bought years ago. It's been a TANK and the speeds are decent. I almost want to buy this because they are so solid.
Speeds up to 150MB/s.

yes, but this google AI response from the search page is surprisingly to me sayings its CMR
AI is wrong all the time. I've never heard of a 4TB 2.5" drive that is CMR.

Yes, true... but it's proprietary to me (and maybe most people) because the only time I see this port and plug is on USB HDD portable external drives; you don't see this on phones, computers/laptop, USB flash drives, portable NVME drives, etc etc etc.... most, if not all, are on the superior USB-C port/plug or some true BS proprietary crap no one cares about (I'm looking you ASUS, with your stupid XG Mobile Cable that requires to use your overpriced external eGPU on ONLY your laptops and your ROG Ally).

Spin it anyway you like it, that port/plug is exclusive on USB HDD external drive ONLY... HENCE, it's proprietary to that and ONLY that.

Time for these HDD manufactures to stop jerking off the microB USB and move on to USB C. Being that you can buy USB C HDD enclosures on Amazon tells me these HDD manufacturers are either being lazy or stupid

If there's one good thing to say about microB USB is that you can still buy cables for them because they're a "standard" USB type... but why lug around an extra cable dedicated to only the HDD portable external drive when you can move on to the superior USB C that everyone is using and carry less cables?
But that's not the meaning of proprietary. Just because a standard is rarely used or mostly implemented on a certain type of device doesn't make it proprietary.

These Micro-B ports are common on hard drives because HDs will often be annoying if restricted to USB 2.0 speeds. There are other devices that use them, like some old high end phones. Also, there's nothing stopping you from plugging a regular USB 2.0 Micro-B cable into one of these drives. Those are/were much more common, though you'll be restricted to USB 2.0 speeds (~50MB/s).

You're right that you won't find these ports on PCs/laptops or USB flash drives. They're not the appropriate type of device for a USB-B connector. For these HDs, USB-C wouldn't provide a functional benefit, just convenience (which is a valid argument).
