What's holding you back, I would get a GoG and Amazon gaming accounts as well. IMO they all work nicely with one another

Meh, just install GOG as a non-Steam game and go about killin' and witch-whoring between hands of gwent. Oh and until you get used to the combat, like me every time I play after months away, bind R5 to quicksave. My finger still twiches when I hear "Le Le Le" music.

Why? Heroic launcher solves that issue

Wondering if I should get the PS4 and free upgrade to PS5, $5 on gamestop for the base edition. Seems like the original base game is long enough, I know the expansions are great, but don't know if I want to put in that much time in one game. I have a mobile 3070RTX so I know it'll look better on that, but I sort of want to play it on with haptic feedback w/ dualsense controllers. Wouldn't really mess with modding anyways.

That's what I'm questioning. Will it not work on steam through heroic?

It does - I had installed it through heroic before.

Heroic is great but often still requires extra work with SD games that just magically work from Steam....some also perform worse. For example Dying Light plays horribly via Heroic but perfectly via Steam. Like a 30+ FPS difference.
Not to mention cloud saves. I've never gotten cloud saves to reliably work on any Heroic title even if the game claims to support it.
Don't even get me started on 3rd party launchers on Heroic or Epic updates breaking access for a few weeks at a time.

Not throwing shade at HL but it is a workaround.

TLDR I'll play a free game any day of the week using Heroic but if I am going to pay for them it will be on Steam.
