If you get a good one, the bees don't bother. When a bee isn't able to get at the nectar, it doesn't report anything back to the hive. We feed 10 hummingbirds and have 16 beehives nearby and the bees don't bother because they can't get to the nectar. We use the ones I linked in my post above.

This is a fine price if you're only going to use it 2-3 times. Otherwise, good luck cleaning it with that narrow neck. Wire brushes won't get it clean enough for picky hummingbirds to want to drink from it. I highly recommend any other kind that lets you get your hand inside the reservoir, such as feeders that use a mason-style jar: https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc...er-1257384

Bees, including carpenter bees, are our friends because they pollinate fruit trees and flowering plants, but to protect wooden structures, use coatings they dislike and deter woodpeckers.

Baby bottle brush from the dollar store.

Another option is half fill the reservoir with ice, then add a 1/4 water (not enough to make the ice float). The ice will scrub the inside of the container if you spin (or shake) the entire bottle around. I also do this on my large Yeti bottle to clean the coffee stains from the inside, makes it look like brand new stainless after about 30 seconds of 'stirring' the entire bottle in the air. *rice also works but ice seems more abrasive so does it quicker

Amazon has this glass mason jar type for less than $5. It will probably be easier to clean.

Hi, I looked at your link and there are a number of reports of the lid rusting. I had that happen with a similar style. I think you could clean the OP's $5 red ones with a bottle brush.

Pardon me. Do you use Grey Poupon?
