The magazine is now bi-monthly, so a 1-year subscription is now only 6 issues.
Most major major Librarys provide free web access using your library card. Just check out the 'additional resource' section on your library site.
Great idea, but CR relies 100% on subscribers and donations, so if you enjoy the content, it may be worth it to support it (so it doesn't go away).

Does the digital version ever go on sale?

I got a targeted offer directly from them for $13 for the year a week ago. I've never seen the digital go on sale, it used to be $12/year if you were a subscriber and then they hiked it up to like $25 or something and I immediately canceled it a few years ago.

On their website they say that they get a fee if you buy something they recommend and click on their link. "When you shop through retailer links on our site, we may earn affiliate commissions. 100% of the fees we collect are used to support our nonprofit mission. Learn more."

I stand corrected, not 100% of their income comes from subscriptions and donations (but, I would wager it's the vast majority). To be clear, I'm not saying you should pay anything for the service, I'm just pointing out that some people may WANT to support them (I do, because I want them to stick around).

They also have a great service called "permission slip" to crack down on data brokers selling your info. Which even this site does. It's worth supporting this cause in my opinion but everyone has different needs and budgets. Check out permission slip in your App Store on IOS or Android. You can do a lot for free or pay for the premium where they do it for you. I already have had success with the free and you can always donate to the cause as well.

The PRINT issue of this magazine is now a joke. I got this a couple years back. NOTHING like it used to be! Save your money.
