I've purchased 5 over the years: 3 replaced with double click issues after a few years, 2 going strong for 6 years now. For this price the ergonomics of it can't be beat for me personally, but it won't be for everyone.

Isn't the durability quality on these not that great?

I replaced the double click on mine which is easy to do via YouTube tutorials. Better for the environment too but I realize this isn't everyone's cup of tea.

Warranty replaced 3 out of 4 of these… Scroll wheel eventually gets dirty and doesn't work correctly. You have to keep cleaning it/rolling it hard to get a temp fix.Hate/love this mouse because it's a nice form factor.

The mandatory software install and login kills this.

Mine worked as a generic USB input device without any software installation required.
The scroll wheel/center mouse button broke, but otherwise it continues to work fine years after purchasing.
Pro tip - consider an application like X-Mouse Button Control to remap the side buttons to commonly used shortcuts. I had mine mapped to "add bookmark" and "go to bookmark" in Visual Studio. Nice productivity boost.

On Windows, login is not mandatory. You can simply choose "Guest". The software is not mandatory either. There's a fully featured, open sourced, software for it on Linux.
Worst case scenario, you can install the Windows software, set up the mouse, and then fully uninstall it. The settings save on the mouse.

That's unfortunately been my experience. Over the years I've owned 6 or 7 Razer mice. The only one that didn't succumb to double click issues was the very first diamondback I bought 15+ years ago. Eventually I got sick of replacing them and switched to Logitech. Irritatingly I still had double click issues on some of those, but their infinite scrolling won me over and now it's a must have feature for me.

I adore the ergonomics of Razer mice but indeed over the years their quality control eventually lost me as a customer.

Would you that have/had it consider it fragile? Some are quite rough on peripherals.

Yes, I think Razer overall has quality problems. I had one with double clicking problem, another with an intermittent disconnection. With $16 though, I get one and see how long they last. Only reason I buy the Deathadder is I like their click feeling and the grip.

I bought an open box Deathadder v2 mini 4yrs ago for under $20 (very slick) through Amazon Warehouse and it's been flawless. It's been used 12+ hrs/day, 6d/week, about 15,000 total hours of use. No double clicks, scroll wheel holding strong, and no issues with the wire.

From what I can see, this is an older model, with flaws that were assumedly fixed in the v2. The v2 mini also has a 33% more accurate sensor (DPI).

I wouldn't say I'm gentle with peripherals, but I wouldn't say I'm very rough with them either. Regardless 4+ yrs of everyday use is pretty good for a sub-$20 mouse.

DeathAdder V2 V3 are good, but this one is not. They are different animals.
