I heard the second game is better; more replayability

i tried the first one, found it boring - just game play seemed distant and combat seemed bland.

I really enjoyed this game. The second one is good to. If you can't deal with older games, go to the second one or skip all together.

I picked this up during last FP deal as a huge lover of Galaxy on Fire II game (same developer), and it's worth every penny. It's worth nothing the DLC is on sale for only $1.49 and is well worth it. Since the game is a roguelite, the DLC is something that enhances the many runs you will make, so it's a DLC that's better purchased sooner, rather than later.

Thanks for the tips! I loved the old space sims, Escape Velocity trilogy and Sid Meyer's Pirates! (what genre even is that?), and on my phone I really liked Galaxy on Fire and Galaxy on Fire 2. The space trading and side missions expanded the game somewhat in GoF2, but I wish it had multiple main story threads and replayability of the older Escape Velocity games. Would this be up my alley? Is the sequel a continuation of this story, or standalone?

The new one also seems to have some QoL improvements over the original that make the game more enjoyable. Might be better to just skip this one and play the 2nd one if you're new.

sequel continues the story but it's a very different game. both are very good if you like space combat

GOG also has it for $0.99. No DRM is always a bonus.

Started playing it recently, after giving up on Elite: Dangerous.

The bite-sized space sim setting that being a rogue-lite brings actually works pretty well. It eliminates much of the barrier to entry with many other space sims and lets you just jump in and shoot some dudes if you want a short diversion.

Offer expired on the 19th and I don't see this priced at 1$ anymore, I think it's safe to flag this as dead.
