It's been confirmed that this will be actual game. No Game Key. Games with Game Key has a white bar at the bottom near the ESRB rating

Street Fighter 6 is one of them and you can see the difference on the game cases. See attached image
For a not even released Nintendo first party game (which rarely go on sale) $8 is significant.
It's partially significant.

Are you new here? This is a RESALE thread. I personally bought 25 copies using old AOL addresses. Although it sounds crazy it will pay for much of the Switch2.
I seriously don't know what your are on.

The irony of people saying this isn't a significant discount is that a $10 increase was considered earth shattering for some.

I don't recall Nintendo selling 1st party titles with a discount at release. So it is a deal.

People complaining about the price of Switch 2... It's $150 cheaper than Xbox Series X. It's cheaper than PS5 or Quest 3. What do you want from them? People pay $800-1500 for a phone that they replace in 2 years. If Switch 2 cost $400, most (reasonable) people would have agreed that it was the appropriate price. The $50 difference split over the next 8 years is negligible.

When I was in the Switch 2 pre-order line at Gamestop, an employee announced to everyone in the line that for some of the games they had limited inventory, so they might get sold out at some point. But for Donkey Kong Bananza they had unlimited inventory, so it won't get sold out. Not sure why this game was different from the rest. And not that I would expect any new game to be difficult to source, but for what it worth, based on that announcement, I think getting hold of specifically this game (especially at full retail price), is not going to be a problem.
This is a complete guess, but maybe because of the tariffs. DK might have already been shipped and waiting before tariffs were announced, while the other games are going to be released in smaller doses.

Surprised to see any discount on an unreleased first party game. I thought the trailer looked boring and repetitive (and I love Donkey Kong Country) but my kid wants it so I'm sure we'll get it. Gonna hold out for a digital copy, though; I'm trying to avoid any physical games for the new Switch so I don't have to be changing cartridges.

I doubt that's the case. More likely it's that they've manufactured more than enough stock and can reasonably guess this game won't sell out (it's not a Mario or Zelda game). Plus it'll go head to head release wise with Mario Kart. Most people will buy Mario Kart if they had to choose one launch game.

Nothing to do with the tariff… at least not the one imposed by the U.S. It's because Nintendo charges 3rd parties a pretty penny for blank carts and that's on top of the royalty. So it's more economical for devs to release physical on Game Key Cards. So far very few 3rd party games announced on cart, mostly on Game Key Card. Expect good games on carts to be limited because they are low profit for devs.
Nintendo, of course doesn't pay itself for carts or royalties so it has fewer constraints and so they should be plentifull. And because it doesn't have these extra expenses it can sell to resellers at a better price than 3rd party devs.

I don't know who's trying to die and on what hill, but what I do know is that people in this thread are too loose with numbers and English. $7 dollars off a $70 game, that is, 10% off, is a significant price reduction. That is, provided you have a paid Costco membership. Sure, that's a slick deal. I don't know if people are thinking this game is going to be scarce (hint: it's not), or if they literally don't understand numbers, but I'm fairly confident I can get this for a better price within a week from launch, if not pre/at launch, simply because a $7 reduction is next to nothing. But you guys can rush to lock in your significant savings.
Well, there you go. Show everyone just how dumb they are and find this game at a cheaper price, from a reputable merchant that everyone can access, before June 12.

That doesn't address why certain games would have a limited number vs. the DK one.
