Not everyone plays for tournaments and competition
You can certainly ask but it doesn't mean they are required to obey your command. It is only banned from USAP tournament. There are governing bodies where the paddle is not banned, pretty much all other associations except the USAP. Do you even know why it was banned? Yeah didn't think so. But you do you Karen. Make sure before you play anyone in rec play, go up to them and look up the paddle they are playing to make sure they are certified by the governing body of your choice. This is not the only paddle or brand that it happened to. Do you know all of the ones that are banned?

The JOOLA Perseus MOD TA 15 16mm Pro Player Edition lost its USAP certification hence the sale price.

But if you only play in rec play, does it really matter? In for 1.

Why get used to playing with this in rec play when you can't use it in tournaments.

Most people probably never play tournaments

The CF paddle is sold out already along with a few others sadly. Great deal. Thanks for posting OP I've been on the lookout for a paddle as a beginner haven't played before. I was contemplating the Costco paddle set but haven't pulled the trigger.

For beginners, you can just get any decent paddles. Only when you're serious would you need the more expensive paddles. If you played tennis at a decent level, the paddles don't really matter much.

I wouldn't say that. If you are going to get into it might as well spend the extra $50 or so to get anything with carbon fiber. You outgrow the cardboard ones quick especially with no control with spin.

I agree with bob1054. If you are sure you will be playing pb a lot, might as well go with a decent paddle. Don't get the ultra expensive paddles, they might actually not be good for beginners, but there are ones that are beginner to intermediate all around paddles usually in the $80-120 range. I have lent some of my paddles to those playing with cheap paddles and they immediately can see and feel the difference.

My god, originally $230? What is the margin on these hunks of plastic lol. I play occasionally with coworkers, I thought you would be able to get a pair for like $12

How is this paddle?

https://sport.woot.com/offers/qyn...cnt_wp_0_9
Its much thicker than the others with honeycomb core.

I played a lot of pickleball during the pandemic and have been thinking about getting back into the game. But the paddle tech has changed so much and there are so many new companies now, that I don't even know where to begin.

From AliExpress I've got like 7 different knock offs. I have the modta spent $45, the 3s, and now joola 4 or whatever it's called rarely spent $70+

The material cost is probably $4

I've never playedpickle ball, but my wife who already plays tennis in league, said she want's to get into pickleball, too. Would this be a good set to gift her? Or, are pickleball rackets more of an individual thing that the player should pick out for themselves?
