Milky Spore is ideal for grubs and not harmful to pets. It's a great way to get armadillos out of your yard. However, it does take some time to work.
Yeah I've been meaning to try milky spore but as you said it takes time to work. Basically you need to spread it, let all the grubs flourish (and die/explode). So your lawn will be trash for a year or 2. Plus I believe milky spore is sensitive to application temperature.
