Great deal! Wanted to comment that I bought a similar one once only to later realize it wasn't HDMI-CEC compatible (which requires a bidirectional cable). Just a heads up. If you don't care about that though this is awesome!
That's exactly what it does. High bandwidth HDMI signals degrade over copper on longer cable runs. It should be noted that this cable only transmits in one direction. HDMI CEC or ARC will not work with this cable.

I do not get it. Does this take 5vdc from the HDMI connection to power a optical transceivers at each end of a100 foot optical line??

I'm not much of a tech when it comes to max lengths for anything other than older CAT cables, but this threw me for a loop as well.

It seems that the fact that it is fiber optic means it can reliably transmit a signal over 300+ meters.

I wish I had access to this many years ago, as I've purchased many different options over the years that cost way more and (possibly) not as reliable. 900+ reviews with 4.3 stars on Amazon if the item below is identical. I don't really trust Amazon reviews, but not much else to go on.

Long runs if you don't want to go with a less reliable wireless setup or the more expensive HDMI over ethernet.

Item description says it supports ARC. What are we missing here?

I've used these types of cables for long runs to projectors in conference setups and church services. They work great in setups where the cables can be ran out of the way of foot traffic.

Thanks for the info everybody. I wanted to buy one because it seems cool but I don't have a projector or anything cool like that.
