Just ordered it through my Verizon account – heck of a deal even though the game is older and has it flaws!

I played this with Game Pass when it first came out. I would have been very disappointed if I paid $70 at launch, but I don't think it's a terrible game.

The Good:
The combat is solid. The core combat mechanics are more fun than previous Bethesda games.
The main quest is relatively short. You could probably finish the entire game in under 20 hours.
There's base-building and ship-customization if you're into that thing. (I'm not.)
There's a mission/quest that's interesting ~10 hours into the game that lasts an hour or so.
There's a cool premise related to New Game+, which would offer strong replayability if you wanted to replay it.

The Bad:
The story and characters aren't very interesting.
The gameplay/quest loop is fairly tedious, especially the parts that involve space travel.
The game world feels very empty and uninteresting, which I guess makes sense if we're talking about outer space.

At $17.50, I would let it keep falling. I kind of hoped that modders might come up with some interesting content to fill in the empty world, but I don't think that's happened. There are some people who really enjoy it, probably the same people who liked Fallout 76. If that's you, then give it a try. If it's not, then wait for the game to hit $5 or less. I'm sure it will be there soon.

Yes, especially if you don't have game pass subscription and need plenty of time to complete whenever. Math don't lie.

If you like sci-fi exploration yes. I put about 150 hours over two years

Those combined with the steel book + shattered space dlc from bb for $10 is a lot of gameplay. I don't get all the starceild hate.
