I also recently branched out and tried Adidas Supernova Rise - really REALLY surprisingly good, and only paid $50 on Adidas' eBay store. Saucony are usually a little bit more, but if you buy a generation or two back, you can find some crazy deals.
I also liked Brooks Adrenaline (I think), but when I found Saucony, I've pretty much stuck with those.
Never paid more than $70 for any of those, and usually a lot less (like I said, my target is around $50-$60)
The current tariff on goods imported from China is 30%, following a recent trade agreement between the U.S. and China. This is a significant reduction from the previous 145% tariff, which was imposed earlier in the year. Additionally, low-value shipments (under $800) from China and Hong Kong now face a 54% tariff or a $100 flat fee per parcel, depending on the exporter's choice.
Adidas manufactures about 14% of its total production volume in China. While China plays a significant role in Adidas' supply chain, Vietnam leads footwear production with 38%, and Cambodia dominates apparel manufacturing at 23%.
The U.S. and Vietnam are currently negotiating tariffs, with the U.S. expressing concerns over Vietnam's trade surplus. The U.S. recently announced a 46% reciprocal tariff on Vietnamese goods, set to take effect in July, though negotiations are ongoing to adjust these rates. Vietnam has responded by cutting tariffs on U.S. imports and cracking down on transshipment of Chinese goods through its territory.
The U.S. has imposed a 49% tariff on Cambodian goods, making it one of the highest tariff rates among Southeast Asian countries. This has significant implications for Cambodia's textile and footwear industries, which rely heavily on exports to the U.S. Cambodia is currently negotiating with the U.S. to reduce this tariff, with a second round of talks scheduled for June.
Thanks for the info. I bought plenty of stuff from Adidas last year. The sneakers were made in Vietnam. The sports pants and jackets were made in Jordan. The accessories were made in Cambodia, Indonesia. I don't recall seeing anything from China. Maybe the small backpack which I haven't opened. Bottom line is Adidas seems to move most of the production away from China already.
And I rarely buy from Adidas this year because I already bought what I needed.

Another reason why this has been a good time to stock up on cheaper imported wares is because before the tariffs went into effect, there was a huge "last time buy" made by many companies to stock up on higher margin goods without taking the tariff hit. Smart, but then you need somewhere to store all of these goods. And that has led to liquidation of many lower margin/lower cost goods.
Geopolitics and economics. It's either interesting or the most boring thing you've wasted your day reading. 🤷 ♂️
