"The Hisense U7N is better than the Panasonic W95A overall. The Hisense has better contrast and HDR brightness, displaying deeper blacks in a dark room and brighter highlights. The Hisense also overcomes more glare in a bright room due to its superior reflection handling, is the more accurate TV in both SDR and HDR, and displays clearer motion due to its faster response time. However, the Panasonic displays slightly more vibrant colors and does a better job of upscaling low-resolution content. Sadly, you can't use VRR and local dimming on the Panasonic simultaneously."
Rtings should rewrite that comparison paragraph since that was written before they did their 2.0 testing method update. That was written when they rated the U7N @ 8.2 overall and the W95A @ 7.9. With the 2.0 update they are more evenly matched with each rated @ 7.5 overall. First change is, that although the U7N has better contrast, the black levels are actually rated better on the W95A. Also... the U7N may be more accurate in both SDR & HDR, but that's pre-calibration, and the W95A is more accurate in both SDR & HDR after calibration (who doesn't tweak settings these days?). The last thing that really stands out is that the new testing method reveals that the response time is actually better on the W95A (very good) than on the U7N (mediocre), so less blur behind fast-moving objects on the W95A.

We use it with an Apple TV box. We had an issue where the screen would repeatedly turn itself off and on for a few seconds (off for about 5 seconds with audio, then back on for 20), but it seems to have resolved itself. The picture is GORGEOUS. We've had it since last Black Friday and it still looks stunning. Mini LED is basically 99% OLED. I put on one of those YouTube LG OLED HDR videos and this tv looks indistinguishable from the LG OLEDs at Costco. Gets very bright, and black is pretty much black, not gray like with normal LED.Software setup is easy. It's basically good to go out of the box. I didn't even connect it to internet because you only need that for the Fire TV feature, and like I said we're using the Apple TV. We got the 65 inch. I needed help from someone else to screw the feet on and set it upright, so be aware of that. It is very heavy. This tv is a bargain. I highly recommend it for this price.
Looking to run the same setup and not even touch the firetv portion or internet. The Apple TV Remote / CEC works fine with this?

I'm assuming you are still able to fully control the display settings etc directly on the tv without issue without internet / activating?

Yup and yup! I'm not sure if you can control the tv system with the remote though, but you can turn off and on the tv with the remote. You can change every setting without connecting to the internet. The internet is purely for the Fire TV portion.I think we fixed the flickering by turning off Dolby Vision and turning on match frame rate and video, so we don't get Dolby Vision in the menus, but once you watch something the tv will match the content however it was intended to be shown, so if it is in Dolby Vision then it'll turn on.

FireTV is a childs smart platform.

Probably the worse thing about these Panasonic TVs are their use of the Fire TV OS
What OS do you use? Apple TV?

Ordered the 65" at Costco for $499 with a 5 year warranty. At that price point it's very competitive with the current TCL and Hisense mini-LED prices.

The 7.5 RT score is a decent score for the updated rating system. Other sites such as Digital trend have more favorable reviews and compare it to the higher end mini-LED tv's such as the Sony Bravia 7.
