Oh wow, nostalgia inducing! Remember eating Pace Picante sauce and tortilla chips nearly every day after high school. One of the few things I would seek out in the grocery store while shopping with my parents. Although, nowadays, when I do eat salsa, I tend to get a higher quality, fresh, Pico de Gallo.

Inflation, tariffs? I paid $3.40 for this last July, now it's $5.23. And we haven't finished it either. As I remember, I also ordered a case of 16 oz jars of mild, which UPS did not deliver, twice. Makes one suspicious when it shows you're the next stop for delivery, and then you get a notification that it couldn't be delivered because the box was empty, the box was discarded, the box was returned to the shipper. Got a refund from Amazon, and then got a better deal a few weeks later.

Considering after just finishing our last vat of this I bought a 16 oz jar of salsa for $4.50 (on sale) this week at the grocery store, I'll happily pay the $5 this is costing me (15% s+s) for 4x as much.

Beat me to it! Big Grin
Regarding shelf life, I also almost always have a jar that's years old sitting in the fridge. No noticeable mold but can't be good for you. Must be acidic enough to prevent it? Confused

When I clicked on the link it showed me a 25% coupon. I clicked to a different variety and then came back and it showed 19%. I clipped the 19% off coupon. Then I clicked back and clicked on the link here again. It showed the 25% off again. I clipped it. When I went to checkout it shows both coupons and the subscribe and save discount for a total of $4.04. Thank you for posting.

Properly canned/jarred food that is undamaged shouldn't really mold because there are no live mold spores in it and no gas transfer between the container and the outside world. The quality will begin to suffer at some point, maybe even before the use-by date, but it is generally safe far beyond that. They have to put a date on it, but most are pretty conservative and it isn't like packaged bread or a non-shelf stable meat or dairy product. Most canned food is good for quite a long time, as are most drugs that don't need to be refrigerated. That's why in most jurisdictions I'm aware of, it's perfectly legal to sell food past the used by date - it's a suggestion and not like flipping a switch all of a sudden when the calendar reaches a certain arbitrary date.
