My wife and I both use these. They are really great flat pedals for people who don't want to clip in. They are good for road and trail. They are definitely higher quality than the junk on Amazon that is at similar price now, and also come in flashy colors if you want.

Man Amazon has these for 30 bucks, don't see why I would buy a REI membership for 30 bucks

They had a coupon to offset the membership fee when I "joined"

Would this be a good replacement for the pedals on the intense 951 trail bike?

I've read people recommend changing the pedals?

Also, a recommendations on a softer seat?

The current one hurts the bum so I don't ride as often as I'd like

Most mountain bikes come with basic pedals, allowing riders to choose replacements that suit their preferred style and size. At this price, these pedals are an excellent upgrade from the stock ones.

As for the saddle, it may feel uncomfortable at first, but with more rides, you might find your body adapts to the riding position for a more comfortable experience.

i've never heard of a decent mountain bike come with anything other than test pedals, ones with no grip that are on there just so you can test the fit of the bike out in a parking lot. if you're still rocking those, yeah, you need to change the pedals
it's a myth that a softer saddle will help. it can actually make things worse. are you wearing padded bike shorts? that should be all you need. if the saddle is still uncomfortable, it might just not be a good fit for your sit bones, and you'll need to try other shapes

They are absolutely great "flats" pedals. I've paid around $40 locally and have zero complaints.

My wife and I both have the REI ADV 2.3 that they don't sell anymore. But, these pedals pair well with any style of bike.

If you take some time to learn proper mountain bike form, you don't really need to worry about it. Haven't scraped my shins in like 10 years

These are the best budget pedals. Do not bother with the Amazon junk. Also, someone said not to get these if your foot is size 10 or larger... I have size 13s and, yeah, the platform is a little small but it's fine.

I have these on a commuter bike I ride. Amazing for riding, when my handlebar gets stuck on a door (walking the bike) yes, I hit my shins on the pedal. Yes, it does bleed a bit.

I agree. I'm looking at these vs the 1Up composite pedals that are also on sale. These have a smaller footprint, and are otherwise on par with the 1UP offering. I have size 11 feet and love the planted grip of the 1Up. I've got DMR Vault's now, but those are $150 pedals.

Dang even cheaper now, worth picking up a backup set! I bought these at $30 about a month ago from REI. Completely changed my riding. I'm climbing like a maniac now. I absolutely STICK to these pedals. At this price it's a no brainer.
