12pt while works on 6 & 12.
If it's a 6pt which is 99% more common I want to use a 6pt. 12pt on a 6pt just gives you more opportunity to strip with some of the tougher bolts and if your using an impact while it will get the bolt you'll be damaging the head for the next time you attempt to get that damn bolt out. Granted these are not impact sockets and I have all these covered anyways but you use what you got sometimes.

Just rebuilt the transmission in my ram 2500.
FYI there was no 12pt headed bolts taking out the entire front and rear drivelines, or transfer case, or transmission mounts. All were 6pt EXCEPT there was 4x T45 on the front 4x4 driveline connecting to the front axle.
12pt are less common, that's all I was trying to say
I also did say they were not impact...
Seems to be good quality out of Taiwan.

No 12point on my honda accord...I've replaced everything on it 3 times over it the past twenty years lol
Also, plenty of things use SAE.
