New to the hobby, but other than having the whole set, what's the point of these base cards? If you collect throughout the season, wouldn't you have a lot of these already and might just need a few singles to complete? Thanks either way, nice price for cards these days

Some people who aren't chasing parallels just want the entire base set, usually good for kids, but no reason to buy if you've been ripping packs and probably have 1 or 2 base sets already.

There were 792 cards in a set when I collected in the 80s, with 4 less teams. Now there's only 700.

Did they do away with Manager cards, checklists and all star/record breaker cards?

Don't remind me those days, I would be millionaire by now if I didn't collect. Or multi millionaire if I collected and sold before 2008

Probably not worth much given how many base sets are printed now. Too much supply

I'm always tempted to get one of these complete sets, but change my mind at the last minute. I'd probably buy a complete NBA set tho

I had quite a few inserts from the late '90's to early 2000's that are worth millions now. Wish I had held on to them before the market went crazy

Also known as "factory sets", these boxed complete sets are good for long term collecting. Buy them and put in the closet.
Popular presents from grandparents for years, there is value in having all the cards from the "flagship" release in one spot

There are variations, with some exclusives at Walmart and target with special
Inserts.

Not a bad price for last years set.

Buying these and putting them in the closet isn't exactly a money making scheme. Most of the Topps factory sets over the last 40 years can be purchased today for close to the same cost, or even cheaper than when released.
