i think it's pointless to think about it like that, because there is likely a markup on just about anything , that is not assembled, i.e laptops, where most of the hw is bought, and only thing manufacturer does is bios and few ther intangibles.

Incredible, thanks for linking! Just bought two of the big battery pack versions. These are so great for freezing action, you use so little power and they last forever

I've been impressed with my Xplor strobes. And this looks like a good price, but man that is some POWER I just don't need. No more G.A.S. for me.

I bought two when they had a similar deal on BF a year ago. Great units. Not everyone needs the power but a pack and head is a great option when mounting a light higher or outside. You can also purchase an AC adapter and not worry about running out of power. The menu system on these is really simple and clean and the build quality is on part with other high dollar systems. My other lights are Profoto and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend these.

I once saw the markup, I believe, when I was in Adorama. I bought a 200+ flash and got it cheaper because I know the salesperson, and I saw something like $63 in the same system.

If you plan on traveling with this light you had better check the new airline rules on batteries. I have heard that the big battery cannot be taken on airlines. This battery is 187 wh. Anything from 100-160WHS needs airlines permission and over are forbidden. So you can't fly with this battery. You would have to buy the smaller one. This one comes with the smaller battery.

Are the batteries any better on these than the 400 and 600pro?

If you mean by them not falling "asleep" due to inactivity or charging, yeah these won't leave you stranded if you let them sit for extended periods of time

No I mean them being bad period. Most on the Internet says their batteries are trash. I had a 400 pro go bad twice. I bought a brand new 600 pro that came with a bad battery. Having 3 bad batteries in 4 lights is not good quality. Never had to baby batteries like Flashpoint. My interfits sit for years no problems. My Westcotts can sit for months and no problems. Why are flashpoints unable to do the same.

I've been using the AD600BM batteries for years and haven't had any real performance issues with them. The 400 Pro battery is my oldest and it's still kicking it too. I don't think in that 400's case, it has the advertised battery length anymore but it's still functioning. But yeah, the Godox batteries are a bit of a lottery, I know many who have had issues, it comes with the territory I suppose. I bought all my 600 BM's for about 400 off of AliExpress, same for the batteries and bulbs which are way cheaper than they are if you buy them domestic retail here!

Thanks OP. I've been contemplating it ever since the post first came out, and I finally placed the order 2 days ago. It arrived today, and I'm hoping this battery won't have the same issues as the Xplor 600.

I have two 600 Pros and one 600 HHS, and the battery on one of the 600 Pros has been constantly charging—showing two solid bars and two blinking bars on the charger. After some research, I learned that the way to revive the battery is by shorting it. It's my fault that I don't remember to regularly charge them but the 2 goods ones I don't need to do this. I think it was in Reddit that I read this, the batteries are sourced from different areas and could simply have a bad batch. I have to do a better job at remembering to charge them at least once every 3-4 months with the one that has the issue.

In case anyone have the battery issue. To revive the battery, you need to:

Remove the battery cover (six small Phillips screws).

Use a thin wire or a paperclip to bridge the two small holes on the side of the battery, creating a short.

After performing this procedure, my battery was able to return to a full charge instead of getting stuck in the charging/blinking state.

Here's the research I found—this issue appears to be a common complaint, and this method is one of the recommended solutions.

Common Battery Complaints
Sudden Battery Failure or Inability to Hold Charge

Some users have experienced batteries that appear fully charged but rapidly deplete or cause the strobe to shut down unexpectedly.

Batteries Entering "Hibernation Mode"

If left unused for extended periods, batteries may enter a low-voltage state, rendering them unresponsive to standard charging methods. Reviving such batteries often requires specific procedures or tools.
Reddit

Charging Indicator Discrepancies

Instances where the charger indicates a full charge, but the battery's own indicator shows it as empty, have been reported. This inconsistency can lead to confusion about the battery's actual charge status.

🛠️ Potential Solutions and Recommendations
Regular Maintenance: To prevent batteries from entering hibernation, it's advisable to store them at approximately 50% charge and recharge them monthly if not in regular use.
Reddit

Avoid Overcharging: Do not leave batteries on the charger indefinitely, as this can lead to premature degradation.

Warranty and Support: If a battery fails within the warranty period, contact the retailer or manufacturer for a replacement. Some users have successfully obtained replacements for defective batteries.

Alternative Power Sources: Consider using the AC adapter for studio sessions to reduce reliance on battery power.

While the Flashpoint XPLOR 600 series offers powerful and versatile lighting solutions, it's important to be aware of potential battery issues and take proactive steps to maintain battery health.
