This one comes with more accessories. The $54.97 at home depot is for the finder and tester only.

I bought this to map my whole house to the breakers. It was more cumbersome so I went with traditional way of just switching off the breakers to see which one went off. It was much faster. Also if you have sub panels, it will not give you accurate results.

I have this and it's "okay". It's not always as easy to identify the correct breaker as you'd like.

Their RT250 is also a nicer outlet tester than the one in this bundle. Of course they couldn't bundle that and make it work with the trace tool because then you wouldn't have to buy two versions of their tools...

I find that running the sensor (not too quickly) over all the breakers first and then slowly checking again will greatly reduce false alerts...

Circuit breaker finder? I thought all you needed for that was a screwdriver or something to short the two sides of an outlet together.

Yup, this is the right way to do it. I got this kit a few months ago to find the breaker a ceiling fan that had totally burned out was on. Entire process took under 5 minutes and I didn't have to run around flipping random breakers on/off and triggering surges to my devices. You likely won't use it a lot, but when you need it, it's invaluable

I find it works okay if you combine with flip and check. Identify some breakers with the loudest tone and flip each one of those until you power off the right circuit (and get no tone).
Still requires flipping breakers on and off but slightly more accurate than random flipping. Also works if the circuit is really far away and hard to check if it's still powered on

What! I did not know this tool existed! I climbed up into my attic to trace the wires from the upstairs bathroom, only to find that the GFCI was connected to a bathroom on the other side of the house! I'm very grateful to know this tool exists, I should have looked for this 6 months ago.

Not trying to knock you at all, but that is literally what the instructions say to do. Now I have noticed that AFCI breakers will trip it up every time, so I just skip those in my panel since I know they are wired to only one appliance.
A lot of people dump on these. Some of it is justified because they aren't perfect, but they can be invaluable if used properly. I use mine of a regular basis at my own house during our multiple remodels and upgrades and at many friends houses.
