The discount is PER quantity, so say you order 2 ESET Home Essentials, you'll get $40 off the order.

Completely unnecessary bloatware. People that buy this stuff are prime targets for volcano insurance.

I've used such software (in general) like 10 years ago last tumi. Zero incidents since then. I'm very advanced and don't have anything waluable for theft so yea, some people still might need to use it. Nod32 was last one I've used and if you need to use it chose whatever the simplest option they offer rn.

I wouldn't call it a bloatware but these anti-virus tools did become unnecessary.First, Windows already has solid protection built in. Microsoft Defender is actually pretty good and catches most common threats. You don't really need extra antivirus unless you are always downloading random stuffs.Second, these old-school AVs mostly check for known malwares (signature-based). And they are pretty bad/slow at detecting and/or preventing 0day malwares. Windows Defender + MalwareBytes (free version) should be more protective.

"MalwareBytes (free version) should be more protective"

This doesnt include real time scanning does it?

No, but Windows Defender should be sufficient to catch the majority of viruses and malware using heuristic analysis ("real-time scanning"). I recommend pairing it with the free version of Malwarebytes for manually scanning new downloads and installations, since their database tends to catch more zero-day threats.

When you activate a new license from Newegg, do they add time to your current license's end date? Or do they immediately replace the current license and you lose the days between this new activation and current license's end date?

You need to wait until it expires to add it, they do not carry over the date.

I've been using it for 12 years and haven't had one virus or malware infect any computers I've built for others or my own. Before, I would always get calls about viruses due to someone clicking on some random site but when I stared installing Nod32 and showing my relatives how it works I haven't had one complaint. So while some may not need it, I feel like it really detects a lot more sketchy activity compared to other programs.

Thanks for the info. Good thing I asked. I'll just wait for the current license to expire.

Honestly windows defender is perfectly fine for most people. If you're constantly downloading shady stuff than I'd go with malwarebytes.

I've been using this since the earliest of days. Probably 20 years at least.

Folks will say windows defender is fine. Sure, I'm not a specialist so you can choose what you like.

I prefer the reduced resource load of eset and the fewer false positives.

It seems whenever I've tried to trust defender, something happens. It became a hassle that even if there wasn't malware the resources consumed would almost act like malware.

I'm not going to argue one is "best" but for me I like things that just WORK and stay out of my way. This is just my 27 years of gaming and computer building experience, so call me stubborn I guess.

Shady stuff isn't the only thing you need to worry about these days, you'll be surprised how many malicious ads you would find just by browsing social media

Question for those who've used this before: When it says "1 year / 3 devices", does that mean 3 separate licenses? As a single device user, is it possible to just use 1 license for 1 year, then use the next license the following year and so on?
