Noise is up, signal is down. More garbage deals, less slick deals

I am engaging less with SD lately because the site quality has gone down considerably.

The site redesign and changes are possibly related, but there is another thread for that complaint already.

I just want to complain about deal quality: It's gotten much worse over the last two years.

I am seeing less good deals. I understand that the market/economy may not be in a position where there is a lot of deals going on and understand that. So the number of deals posted should go down, but that's not what has happened.

Instead, deals posted feels like it's gone up, and the quality has gone down. Absolute garbage obviously-higher-than-normal prices are getting +4 votes easily.

Staff posts automatically float up to +4 and then stop. It's very obvious what is going on here.

Idiots are posting $64 wire cutters. The price has almost never been higher and similar competing products are in the $10-$20 range. Literally tool-fashion brand influencers posting anti-deals and FOMO deranged hamster-tappers panic-upvote it.

Sixty
Four
Dollar
Wire
Nippers

I already own one of these with the better handle. It's not worth $40, and $60 is a joke.

Yup, staff posts are basically spammed because SD is paying them money. It's 100% garbage Amazon products. There are so few deals posted now that are worth your time. I stopped submitting deals because the moderation here pushes so many low quality deals to sit on the front page. I mean how many times are they gonna put that junk vibrating toothbrush on the front page?

I would just like to know how I could stop seeing so many Macbook Pro deals. I'm not sure I've *ever* interacted with a Macbook (Pro) deal on this site... or even a laptop deal in general. Lately, a majority of my "For You" deals are Macbook Pro listings, mostly on Amazon. I am not interested in Macbook Pros or laptops, at all. Setting my interest to all relevant categories to "not interested" does nothing, and there's seemingly nothing more I can do.
