\You are kidding, right?
Forget the lead hype.
There is already enough lead in most city water pipes. That a garden hose is not going to make a difference.
Sort of like lead-based paint. Just don't eat the hose, and you will be fine.

Why have all the good hoses gone to using cheaper aluminum connectors? If you leave it connected, you may have to cut them off. Brass has been used for about 100 years. And there is a reason.
Use these connectors. And you at least will get the hose back off the faucet. May not get the connector back off the hose. But they are cheap enough.
Brass and aluminum don't mix. It is called galvanic corrosion. This reaction can lead to the fusing of the fittings together
You're right, but they're not made any more and when they were made they were SUPER expensive. I'd consider that hose an entirely different product.
This one.
I am being serious.
Most consumer hoses are made with recycled/reclaimed resin. They bury it inside the construction. That's where you might find lead because no one can guarantee the content of the recycled resin that's sold to these companies. Most hoses are commodity products meaning they are driven by price. If a manufacturer can cut costs they are going to do it anywhere they can. That's also why some hoses aren't rated for sale in CA. In those cases what they do is make a 3 layer hose - put the recycle in the middle so it's encapsulated by virgin (new) plastic. Another way to tell is to look at the inside of the hose. If it looks rough or lumpy, that means they used recycled/reclaimed resin. that doesn't necessarily mean it has lead, it just means it's not virgin resin.
Legacy makes Flexzilla out of 100% new resin. No recycle/reclaim resin at all, even their own scrap is not reintroduced into the final product. Lead is not used as an PVC stabilizer in the US any longer. Flexzilla is MOSTLY made in the US, in Iowa. SOME of the hose is still sourced from Taiwan. An easy way to tell is if the Flexzilla logo is printed on the hose, it's from Taiwan. If it just has some numbers, it's US-made.
The other big manufacturer of hose is swan who sells under their own brand but also private labels for home Depot, Scotts, etc. most of those hoses are the kind where they get the cheapest trash they can find to bury inside the hose.
I can't go into specifics but I have first hand source for information like this. I have intimate knowledge of the manufacturing processes.
Funny thing... the second one is still rolled up in the garage, waiting for the first one to degrade in any way. I guess it will outlive me.

If you shop at Amazon frequently, have Prime, and use their Subscribe & Save service, the Prime Visa is a must, in my opinion. Earning 5% back is pretty good, and those points accumulate fairly quickly. There's also a $150 Amazon Gift Card sign up bonus too.
As for the deal, I believe Home Depot and Walmart are now matching Amazon's $55 price. However, as I mentioned before, the price trackers I use indicate that the average price for the hose has been around $70 for a while. If you can wait until summer is over and buy it in the fall or winter, you should be able to get a better bargain.

Yes, they are the best performing hose and they are great. But unless you are using them in a cleanroom indoors, they turn into a sticky, crappy, unfixable mess after a very short period of time.
Mold and everything else.
