doesn't make them bad though. i use this size west loop thermos for my coffee on work days. it's great because it never leaks and with the extra lock (that other versions of contigos don't have) you can toss it in your bag without worrying.
Maybe so but I love them. Keeps coffee hot, no handles so it fits in cup holders nicely, lock is easy to use with one hand, and it holds comfortably in my hand. I have a few old ones and they hold up!
Parents had these exact ones for like 15 years lol.. The inside of the lid has a lot of nooks and crannies. Got stained over time from coffee, looks pretty gross. Don't think they really took it apart to clean it because it's so overly complicated.
Plus side is they have lifetime warranty. Their CS is pretty legit.

If I remember the lid have nothing to take apart to clean. You can only soak it. Still by soaking it you can't really properly clean them, which make them gross tbh

maybe older models are different but on mine the back opens up and they are top rack dishwasher safe. that's how i wash mine and they always come out clean and have never gotten gross.
