Good luck.
Omg.. why would they be allowed to make such a change.. I would have been furious ðŸ˜
There were a bunch of other people at the airport just as confused as we were.
What is the context of this?

Sad. I would think tax revenue and tourist expenses in businesses are a good thing economically. I would love to see a thorough research of this perspective.

Aside from that, wasn't their economy in shambles not long ago?
Also funny how they colonized much of the world. But now doesn't want the world coming to them 😑.
We just returned from a trip in March and everyone was great. It helps to speak a little of the language and stay in less touristy areas, generally don't be obnoxious. Barcelona was a little overrated (and expensive) as a tourist city for as much attention as it gets, and I feel terrible for the housing crisis there. I think the biggest problem is that it's Europe's biggest cruise port and a lot of cruise people just descend on the city for a day, act foolish, and leave.
Take the time to learn about Catalonia and Spain ahead of time, be friendly and chill and patient, and you'll have a great time. Montjuic is fun, Montserrat is a great daytrip, and the Sagrada Familia is beyond stunning. The Barri Gotic is amazing, but crowded. High speed rail is plentiful and reasonably priced, so getting out of the city is easy.
Edit: more to the point of the deal, we got $375 BE fares on Delta for that trip (from ATL, open jaw return from MAD). I wouldn't take a chance on Level at the same price.
Overall, you get what you pay for. Level does not have many planes so if there is a delay or cancellation you might not get the same level of support as with a legacy carrier. Keep in mind that due to the fact that the flights being or end in the EU they are SUBJECT TO EU REGULATIONS. That means you maybe eligible for compensation. I've used AirHelp to get money back from airlines: https://www.airhelp.com/en/ There are other services as well. Filing a dispute with your credit card issuer may also an option.
The light fare gets you a randomly assigned seat, a carry on and a personal item. Meals, checked baggage and seat selection are not included but they can be added. The plane was laid out in 3x3x3 format. The plane itself seemed newish and clean. The business model that Level uses will not work for all travelers so do some research.
Overall most people of the world are decent tourists, but some wreck it for the rest.
If you have ever lived in just about any tourist town, you know I mean.
